Diagnosis: Domestic Violence, a training conference for health care providers and anyone who works with victims of domestic violence, is scheduled for Thursday, October 28 at the Sheraton Cleveland City Centre. Presented by the Center for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the daylong program begins at 8 am and features a keynote presentation by Anne Flitcraft. M.D., director of the Domestic Violence Training Project, University of Connecticut Health Center; panel discussions; workshops; interest groups; and other activities.

The conference program is based on Trust Talk, the Ohio Physicians' Domestic Violence Prevention Project Training Manual; participants will receive a copy of the manual and a supplemental program book. Heartland lesbian book catalog available. Heartland Books, a company run by two rural Vermont women, has announced the arrival of the second Heartland Books catalog. Linda Weiss and Joyce McKeeman are offering a wide variety of lesbian and feminist reading by mail. The catalog offers about 125 book selections covering such topics as fiction, biography, relationships, erotica and sexuality, wall calendars and datebooks. Contact them at P.O. Out There on Comedy Central. Television's first all gay and lesbian comedy special, Out There, is set to debut on cable's Comedy Central channel December 3. Internationally known lesbian comic Lea DeLaria is the host. The one-hour special, which was taped in San Francisco's Great

American Music Hall on October 11, National Coming Out Day, features many lesbian and gay performers. Bob Smith (Funny Gay Males), comic Suzanne Westenhoefer, comic performer Marga Gomez, Steven Moore (the nation's first HIV-positive comedian), Scott Capurro (Evening at the Improv), folk singer Phranc, and actor David Drake (The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me) are just some of the acts.

Candidate and campaign manager training. The Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund has scheduled its second Training Institute for Candidates and Campaign Managers in Miami, December 2-4. The goal is to help openly lesbian and gay can-

sessment and facilitation of action plans. The Task Force is a National Minority Organization dedicated to ending the AIDS epidemic by advocating and assisting in the development of HIV education and service programs by and for gay and bisexual men of color.

Attorney network for military gays and lesbians. A nationwide network of attorneys announced the formation of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network to provide pro bono legal assistance to gays and lesbians serving in the armed forces. The Network will respond to requests from active duty servicemembers to provide counsel and advice to gays and lesbians who are subjects of harassment, investigation, discharge or imprisonment.
